Constantly Optimizing or Occasionally Maximizing?

I have been trying to optimize everything for a long time: sleep, diet, exercise, routines. Then I had a sort of enlightenment: this optimization thing has made me fragile, and it took some courage to admit that.

I am starting to think that being able to let optimization go from time to time is arguably the secret for keep the optimization process sustainable in the long-term.

Just like I can afford some high blood glucose here and there because I know that I am in range 90% of the time, I can also let go of the idea of being constantly at 100% in all other areas, is the majority of my lifestyle is solid and health promoting.
